Ah Mah's 63rd Birthday

Aug 25, 2013 10:02

August is a month where birthdays galore. We seem to be celebrating at least one birthday a week.

Today is ah Mah's 63 birthday and we had a big family celebration yesterday at 海底捞, a steamboat restaurant in Clark Quay which is famous for its service. Well, the service is indeed impeccable. Hair tie for lady halfway through the dinner in case we were hot and felt better tying up our hair, individually packed cleaning cloth for your spectacle in case your glasses fogged up during dinner, complimentary gifts and cut fruits for the birthday ah mah, just to name a few. We were also pretty bemused by the waiter who came around to do the hand pulled noodle. He actually put up such an elaborate dance that made us think of 嫦娥奔月!I really applaud his effort and Dajiu even requested to take a photo with him.

That's the birthday 'card' made by Anna on behalf of all her sisters for the crab loving ah mah.

Us, before tucking in to the sumptuous dinner, and decking up in the aprons they provided.

Mixing our own sauce.

We tried the various soup base, chicken soup, seafood soup, Sichuan hot and spicy soup, laksa soup and tomato soup.

I like the seafood soup and the Sichuan hot and spicy soup.

A lot of food. Their signature prawn paste is really good!

The guy who did the 'Chang Er' dance.

With the 7 granddaughters.

All 18 of us.

We took a walk to see people doing the reverse bungee. The younger kids especially my six years old niece Charlotte was so keen to try. Thank goodness there's an age limit. These young ones are so adventurous these days and am I just getting old?

birthday, family
