These last two weeks had been a whirlwind of errands, cleaning, de-cluttering and packing for me. My mother-in-law has chosen an auspicious day for us to move on the 11 sep (the 10th anniversary of 9-11, how easy to remember). With the deadline looming, we are rushing to get everything in place. Guess what, we only bought our sofa over the last weekend and Hari Raya. Prior to this, I was oblivious to the fact that it will take something like 8-10 weeks before they can delivered the sofa. Thankfully, the two shops that we went to promise to loan us a set. I am keeping my finger crossed that it will not be one infested with bugs! :P
The carpenters are still working on some of the cabinets. Yes, even the house is not all ready. I forsee a mad rush next week to get in whatever outstanding work we had. Argggh, I am getting cold feet. I have been giving away stuff that we do not need anymore and going through all the items we accumulated over the years. Amazing how much junk there is even though I am one who hates to hoard stuff.
Anyway, I also have a rather healthy social calender which took my mind off the impending move and provided the much needed breather.
Saturday night was dinner at Christine's new abode, partly also to celebrate Feini's birthday. Our dear host cooked up a storm and it was one great night where we were pampered with course after course of fabulous dish.
Monday was dinner with my dear ex colleagues to celebrate Carol's birthday. We went to this restaurant Brooth at 21 Duxton Hill.
I like the simple decor of the restaurant especially the 4th storey high airwell, pretty cool!
Food was just fine I thought. In fact, I was so engrossed in catching up that I did not remember any dish that was particularly outstanding.
Happy Birthday to dear o' Carol!
For the upcoming one week holiday, I am just looking to involve the big girls in cleaning the new house, packing and unpacking and moving.
