So,
Yesterday I did my taxes - I'm getting a nice sized return for the federal, so I'm all happy about it.
Then I go to finish up with e-filing so that I can get my refund faster and be done with it all (as I can really use that refund right now).
But of course, as the Universe hates me with a fucking passion - a serious negative comes to light - I can't e-file.
Why? Because someone else has filed their taxes under my social security number - fact confirmed via phone call with the IRA - about two weeks ago. The person is in my state too, so I have this problem in full.
Fuck My Life.
So it's one of three things - that person is committing tax fraud with my SS#, full on identity theft, or that person made an honest mistake and mis-typed their SS#.
I'm really, really, really hoping that it was a mis-type (fucking idiot) than anything else - as if its anything else.....fuck, talk about devastation. And I'm really careful about my information too.*irritation* Already got a fraud alert going, and its been noted with the IRS. And I still have to notify a couple other entities for safety's sake. I do kinda feel that it's more of just an honest mistake, however, my luck sucks, fucking horribly, so..... and then this is a bit of a waiting game right now to see what exactly the situation is - credit wise, the investigation the IRS has to do now....
Of course, when I could really really use that return money, this shit pop's up. I won't be seeing my return for a few months - longer, if the situation is any more than a honest mistake.
Fucking great.
