Yeah, I totally forgot it was Good Friday / Zombie-Jesus Day today :P I went to work and was met with locked doors and empty parking lots. So, I took a somewhat scenic drive through the Highlands, and have found myself at my favorite CC's. I am gonna try and get some grading done and, hopefully, finish up my Micronutrients midterm / assignments. (The question on osteocalcin and VDR is going to be the death of me. I swear he never mentioned any of that stuff in class!)
Also, here are a few notes I took while watching Heston's Ten Commandments two nights in a row:
- Whatever happened to putting the credits and acknowledgments at the beginning of a movie? Really, a lot of people put a lot of time and energy into making the thing that you are about to watch and assumedly be entertained by. You should at least have the decency and respect to sit through the credits.
- Violence (or at least violent death) is always off screen. It is such a contrast to the often gratuitous violence you see in modern movies and such. The same thing goes for sex. Not that I'm complaining, but a lot of the stuff you see in modern films is just there for shock value: not for any artistic purpose. There is something to be said for living stuff like this to the imagination...
- Clothing is sexy, but not too reveling (says the "immodest" one).
- Why is Miriam wearing red in the beginning? You'd think that color dye would be too expensive for a slave family to purchase. Also, she'd stick out like a sore thumb in the reeds while she was trying to follow that damn basket down the river.
- Did Moshe and Ramses really hate each other growing up, or is it just for plot purposes? Also, their "prince's locks" look ridiculous.
- I <3 Charlton Heston *drools*
