a poem for creative writing class.

i'm feeling very yellow today.
a thin sheet of parchment paper:
cracked edges, fine lines, dry wrinkles,
feathery nails flaking into brittle cuticles,
nettings of creases across my knuckles
reveal blue fish-veins swimming underneath.
(the only part of me that's not yellow)
dusty bones, crispy flakes of muscles,
a whole skeleton peeling ribbons in the wind.
jaundice ribbons that flutter in the breeze until -
they all fly away.
and the only thing that's left in my pile of crumbly bones,
is my blue fish-veins,
still swimming,
under the sandy sun.
