First off there are Enlargers (this is what you put your negative in) The Enlarger is basically a projector and it projects the negative onto light sensitive paper (paper must be kept in complete darkness at all times untill used for the darkroom) for a certain amount of time, thats at the bottom of the enlarger. The longer you have the light on the paper the darker the photo will be
After exposing the negative to the paper, you put the paper in 3 types of chemicals in 3 sperarate trays (like you see in those movies where theres a guy in a room with that red bulb)1st.Developer(developes the image) 2nd.Stop Bath(stops developer from over developing the image) 3rd.Fixer.(paper is not light sensitive anymore so you can look at it in natural light without ruining your picture), then you wash the print in water to get all those chemicals off
this is all done in the dark, photo is just an example
