But should you follow the fresh trail, you'll find Moro roaming, stalking, watching luceti from uphill, her predatory eyes glaring hatefully at ( Read more... )

[For a moment, the winds are blowing against her, so she has yet to pick up your scent.]

[ And he gets close enough to notice the wings on her back. That makes him pause for a moment. He'd seen other animals in the forest, but none of them had had these sort of wings... ]

Are you not from this world?

[Boy does she seem displeased to have been snuck up on. Enjoy that loud, deep growl that resonates underneath her voice.]

I am not.

[Well if you're lucky you won't have to deal with teeth instead. Meanwhile, Moro is just laughing, smirking at him.]

[ Josh can take care of himself. ]

You're a god? I see. And what sort of hierarchy exists in your world for that sort of thing?

I am a guardian god. I slaughter whatever attempts to destroy the forest belonging to the Forest Spirit, who granted me my very existence.

Instead I must adopt this mundane forest, and while tempting, I must not kill these humans until there is a clear purpose. It would be disrespectful to the Forest Spirit's act of giving me life, and granting me the reprieve of death, though this accursed place robbed me even of that.

[ Joshua is totally sympathizing with her right now even if he doesn't seem like it. ]

Does it need to be protected, or did you adopt it to give yourself a purpose?

I cannot simply kill humans without reason. I was built to protect nature and the spirits. Though this is not my home, I will still slaughter all who defy the nature here.

So you need that purpose to justify your existence.

I exist because the Forest Spirit willed it.

I act for the purpose he granted me.

Are gods below spirits, then?

The Forest Spirit is the god of life and death.
