Weezer (Red)

On the Red Album, Rivers is finally accepting the themes of acceptance that he's been promoting in his music for years. He's the most honest he's ever been, even on snoozer tracks like "Heart Songs," which is basically a list of some of his favorite musical moments.

There we go. I really needed to get that last bit of analysis out there, since I didn't feel like the review I wrote for The State News finished up quite right.

On another note, I think State News kids are sort of indoctrinated from the first in the tone of the newspaper's supposed badassery.
Right away, I remember reading in an email something like, "it's 'The State News' not 'the State News.'"
We do a lot more than most college newspapers, and I feel like we do it well. We have a lot of pride in what we do, even though there will always be those who don't take it as seriously as others.
The punchline here being just that those kids may appear snobbish because of their shining shared experience. It's work, but we're more vested in that work than we've ever been because this time, it matters. Many of us are doing the thing we plan to keep doing as a career, and it's kind of a thrill. It's real. Hence the self-importance that may come across to outsiders as snobbish behavior.
We don't mean it =]
