I wish I had sewing skills.
I have mending skills, and I have stitching skills, but I can't sew for shit. I'm sure I could learn, but I'm lacking the time, the materials, and the machine to do so.
Why the sudden interest in sewing? Because I want to start making my own clothes. Blame it on the marathons of I Love Lucy I've been watching lately, but I'm dying for some 40's and 50's style clothes, mostly dresses and shirt-dresses. I have a few pieces in my wardrobe that are similar to that, and just looking at the style of those periods in general I think the silhouettes would flatter my natural body shape. But sadly, my interest in these types of clothes comes about 2 years too late - I discovered that type of silhouette on the very end of when all the stores were selling clothes like that. Now it's all things that seem more fit for either 80's, 70's, and 60's throwbacks, none of which flatter me.
*sigh* It's never going to happen though, for various reasons I won't get into because it's too depressing to me.
I especially love this one:
