I wasn't getting results with my contest prep, so I finally took my trainer's advice about seeing a doctor and getting blood tests done. Turns out his suspicions were right - my hormones are whacked out due to over-training, over-stimulating and under-eating =D
But I suspect it's mostly because of my over-stimulating for several months. Dare I say over a year? Taking energy supplements while drinking coffee and Diet Dr. Pepper... how was I to know that would have such a bad outcome? ;P
Eh, well. I'm facing reality: I'm fucking up my body =/ So much that my metabolism is slower than ever and I'm swimming in cortisol. I haven't given it a true break or a real chance to get strong - I'm always in hardcore mode or "I don't care" mode. The contest is pretty much out of the question now. By doctor's orders, I've changed my training routine and brought my caloric intake back up. I've already gained back a few pounds, but in turn I'm tearing it up in the weight room again. I've taken up sprinting too, now that I have the energy for it. Basically I'm cross training and loving it.
I'm not taking any energy supplements either... in fact, I'm... Well I'm... limiting my coffee. To about 2 cups a day =X And I might have some green tea or a Diet Dr. Pepper in the afternoon. That's it.
Not counting calories or macro nutrients, either. My one and only rule is: "Eat what you need." Surprisingly, I tend to eat less and not crave junk foods this way.
That's about all that's new with me. So exciting, huh?
Oh yeah. We're moving to Bellevue next month, probably around the mall. Let's hope I can find some #(*&ing work. At least I'll be back in school... probably take History and martial arts, then use the outdoor track for proper sprinting (treadmills are only so useful.)
