I am a sad panda

Serra came home from school early today. Brian brought her home after the Christmas program at her school and let her hang out at home alone, with my permission. She's old enough to spend time alone, and she does fine as long as her sister isn't with her, so we figured she'd be okay for one afternoon. She was, she's fine, don't freak out. What she did, was watch her dad drive away and waved to him, standing in the front door. Then she forgot to close the front door for some unknown reason, and went to her room to play video games until I got home. The front door was open for a few hours. We no longer have cats. We looked around the neighborhood, but as it's dark, no love. I've left the garage door up about a foot and put the old litter box out there so they'll know it's their house if they come back. I'm not optimistic though. We live near the freeway and two major roads and they've never been outside other than a few minutes in the back yard once or twice. They don't have any get out of the way instincts for cars. Tomorrow if they're not back we're going to post pictures on the mailboxes and hopefully someone will find them and call.

I just bought a littermaid, do you have any idea how much those things cost? If they're not back in a couple of weeks I'm putting it on Craig's list.
