So, I have been sitting here smacking myself in the head because I didn't think to suggest a panel about high school AU stories and why we love and/or hate them. The only fandoms that don't seem to have them are the ones set in high schools already. I, personally, used to consider them a secret guilty pleasure, but now that I no longer care about what people think of me, I will stand up and say: I am Sorcha and I love me some high school AU stories!
THUS!
I will be hosting a room party to discuss high school AUs. If we love them, do we know why? Is our love unequivocal, or maybe just a bit unwilling and shameful? What makes a good high school AU story as opposed to a bad one? How much liquor do fangirls have to drink before they will admit to having written one? All of these questions, and more, will be probed. And by more, I mean more questions. There will be no alien abductions at this room party!
Right now, I'm thinking Friday evening for this, which would conflict with the movie, alas. (I don't remember what the movie is - someone help?) However, I'm open to suggestion to a point. I'm moderating the crafty panel Saturday at 2, so I definitely can't schedule then, and I want to make the Saturday Sherlock panel for sure.
So! Bring your metaphorical yearbooks, your out-of-date embarrassing fashion mistakes, and your buried-but-not-dead hatred of the mean girls, and let's hang! Depending on my personal funds and the size of the mini-fridge, I'll try to have some soda and/or snacks on hand, but if you want to bring something to share that would be most welcome.
I'm checking in sometime Friday - should be around 1pm, but I'm taking the train up from Portland this time and the first rule of train travel is not "We do not talk about train travel" but "The train is always late; if you're lucky it will only be an hour or so." Once I'm checked in, I can post final info about room and time.
LESS THAN TWO WEEKS, PEOPLE! IT'S LIKE WAITING FOR MY BIRTHDAY OMG.
