R.I.P. (X 2)

Last night at work, I found myself at the 24-hour vet again, sobbing over yet another cat that had been struck by a car and left for dead. Her spinal cord was badly damaged; her lower half was completely dead. I brought her in and held her while the drugs helped her slip away, and I tried (and failed) not to cry ( Read more... )

You did do "excellent work" with the babies.
I'm sorry Baby Boy did not make it, but that doesn't change the fact that without your help they'd have had no chance at all.

Yep. Exactly.

If you were omnipotent, you wouldn't need to work for a living. You could snap your fingers and Save the Everything. Which, yeah, doesn't make it easier when the universe feels a need to rub your face in the fact that you can't in fact Save the Everything no matter how hard you work or how good at it you are. You gave it your best effort, and thanks to you at least that cat and Baby Boy were surrounded by love when they died. At least baby Boy's parents had a chance to spend some time with him. You deserve that letter, and so much more.
