I don't know if this is going on in the rest of the country/world, but there has been a disturbing rash of anti-gay violence in the NYC area lately. Not to mention that one of the candidates for governor made a televised speech where he stated (and I quote) "I don't want them [children] to be brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option."
Wow. I am surrounded by such a diverse and tolerant group of friends that I sometimes forget that people still hate other people for no good reason.
So it's no wonder I couldn't stop crying when I saw
this. C'mon, people. Is tolerance *really* so bad? Because I'm pretty fucking sure that hate is *not* a family value.
