Yesterday I rediscovered my uncle's drum machine from the 80s. It is a primitive
Roland TR-505 Rhythm Composer,
and it's very handy. When he first gave it to me I just messed around
with it, and tried to see how many cymbal crashes I could fit into one
measure. But now that I've actually read the manual (I guess that makes
me sound like some sort of techie geek) I found it's pretty easy to
write whole songs, and so I've started using it to structure songs I've
written on guitar that previously have had no purpose. This is good
because Sam and Will and I are playing more often and it's coming
together euphorically.
