EPISODE 1 : CHRISTMAS 1922
New technology brings mixed fortunes when Sir Richard Carlisle is run over by the van delivering Downton's first radio. Mr bates is shot while breaking out of prison, but manages to escape to Dublin where he meets Lady Sybil (now Dr Sybil Branson) in hospital. Her discovery of penicillin is dismissed by colleagues because she's a woman, but not before she cures Bates's pneumonia.
EPISODE 3 :
Matthew is returning from his seal-clubbing expedition when his Zeppelin crashes into the Channel. After being led to safety by a dolphin, he arrives at Downton to declare his love for the recently widowed Lady Mary. He changes his mind after seeing her new short hair.
EPISODE 4:
Lady Mary causes a scandal in the village by voting, which worsens when Matthew Crawley MP loses his seat by one vote. Lord Grantham bans her from Downton, leaving her without access to the ping pong table as the women's championships loom. The Dowager Countess dies of fright while attending a talking film.
EPISODE 6:
Dr. Sybil travels to Downton to bring Anna news of Mr Bates, but is arrested for having a copy of Ulysses in her bag. Lord Grantham, now Minister of Agriculture, is kidnapped by surrealists, whose demands are too confusing to be met. Matthew Crawley takes over the running of Downton, reinstates Lady mary and introduces frozen peas. Thomas returns from America where he appeared in four episodes of Boardwalk Empire.
EPISODE 8 :
Lady Edith's crush on Mussolini comes to a bad end, Thomas and his partner Michael continue to run a popular B&B in Ripon. On the eve of Matthew & Lady Mary's wedding, a fire at Downton destroys Mr Bates's prototype fax machine. The next day the Stock Market crashes. Undaunted, Matthew & Lady Mary embark on a new life in Berlin.
