[...well I do have experience with images of bodies on the ground. Just going to watch through the Sphere for now and see if he wakes up.]

[is definitely stirring now from the voices in the Sphere, and opens his eyes to see Klavier's hologram watching him--and he looks away, that guilty feeling back in the pit of his stomach again.]

[There are any number of things he could say or do here, but it's hard to know where to start. So when in doubt? Use smalltalk.]

...That doesn't look comfortable.

[has noticed he's very much lying in the mud now and isn't too pleased about it.] Well, I was on a log at first. It seems to have disappeared...

[eyebrow quirk] Have they?

Ja. Though a log seems to be the biggest I've heard yet. It's mostly smaller things, like clothes and jewellry.

[He's missing his necklace, for that matter.]

And no one's simply not going around stealing these personal items? Not that the log was personal to me, well, as I was sleeping on it, I suppose I could claim a modicum of ownership over it...

You know, I'm wondering that myself.

Hm.

[Ah well, that's enough of that. Time to get to the point.]

Since you've said your piece on the matter of last week, I think I should get a turn too.

[he takes in a breath. he had been wondering when it would come around to this.]

Go ahead.

You're right when you say apologising doesn't change your actions. I can understand wanting to find the truth... that's what I want my life to be about. But the ends don't justify the means, either. Did you even find out anything worthwhile, in the end?

[he looks away again and says softly] No. The only conclusion I was able to reach is that no one has a memory of who or what took them. There's a significant gap there and I couldn't do anything to bridge it.

There was simply nothing there.

[Sighs a little.]

It doesn't surprise me. If we were at home, I'd want to charge you with any number of things for what you did.

If we were in your world, this would not have happened.
