[in truth, he feels rather at home in this red forest, not so much because of the colour of the leaves--no, his were silver--but because the red itself reminds him of the sky just after the last sun had set. it's while he's lost in this reverie, his rudimentary tracking device stuffed into his pocket and beeping dully, that the Sphere turns on--at ( Read more... )

You found something, too?

[...not sure if he should address the licking situation]

[he's sat himself down in front of the statue now, bow and ball of string in his lap] "Too"? You've found something as well? Well, of course you have--else you wouldn't have asked that!

So what did you find?

[digs around off-Sphere and holds up what looks more or less like a sword] I don't know why I kept it. I haven't come across any others since I found this one, either.

Hmm, curious. Ollie found a staff and Fuuma--well, one of them--found a wand. I think we've wandered into a fantasy novel of some sort!

Oh yes, you had some trouble with your glasses, didn't you? [he only glanced up to see the sword and went right back to work.]

It's certainly starting to look like that, isn't it? Especially with those statues.

[...coughs, rubbing the back of his neck] Ah, yes. A squirrel took them, but Ammy helped me get them back.

That or someone's quite fond of wood carving...

Ah, brilliant! [looks up and grins at him] I've never asked; just how bad are your eyes?

Or someone with a lot of time on their hands.

[didn't think it was so brilliant, but keeps that to himself] Anything more than a foot away from my face is blurry.

Well, to carve all these, you'd have to! Wonderful craftsmanship. The red leaves really frame them...

Oh? [guiltily slips his non-prescription glasses off his face, tucking them into his suit pocket.] Sorry to hear that. Is it macular degeneration--though, you're far too young for presbyopia. Myopia, most likely... Ohhh, or an awful case of astigmatism?

I will admit, it is very beautiful. And more or less harmless so far. It's a nice change.

It's just simple myopia. Too much reading and detailed work when I was younger, especially after I turned ten. I was predisposed toward it to begin with and my hobbies made it worse. [he noticed the Doctor's gesture there, a little confused by it]

Certainly is! And the animals haven't attacked yet--or, well, done anything worse than indulge in a little petty theft.

Hobbies like...model building? [notices the confused look but doesn't say anything about it--he isn't about to say that he wears them to look even smarter than he knows he is.]

We shouldn't let our guard down, though. Just in case.

Yes, actually. Reading, model building, drafting, some carving. I tend to do a lot of things in my free time. [decides not to press the issue. if the Doctor doesn't want to share, he doesn't have to]

Naturally. There might be some more spectacle stealing squirrels on the loose. [winks]

What sort of models? What'd you draft?

... [kind of red now] Possibly.

I liked to build models of Gummi ships, mainly. I still have a few in my quarters back on my world. As for drafting, I didn't focus on much besides, uh... [a small cough] Tree houses.

[enjoys teasing him a little too much]

Gummi ships? That's vaguely familiar for some reason... [someone mentioned them once, but he can't remember who]

Tree houses, eh? I had one once! Well, sophisticated drafts to make one, anyway. They never quite got off the ground...

[Riku asks whyyyyy]

Maybe one of the others mentioned them? Maybe Sora, or Kairi.

[can't help a little smile] That's all mine ever were, plans. But when we were kids we always talked about making our own special tree house. There was a smaller subsidiary island nearby that we thought would be the perfect place to build it.

[because the Doctor can be a playful brat every now and then~]

Perhaps. Sora, maybe...

[smiles right with him.] How come you never did?
