How Dumb is That Doggie In The Window?

The one who just took the hell off?

Saturday, we went over to our old house (32nd street) to get stuff out of it & get it ready to be sold (2.5 bedrooms, sunken living room, 2.5 car garage, huge lawn, $50,000 if anyone wants it!)  Once we got there, we realized we had no diapers for Youngest (who refuses to be toilet trained.)  So Husband left me, Friend and Youngest there to go home & get diapers & new pants just in case.  While he was there, he discovered that Bailey (the world's dumbest dog) had peed in 2 rooms.  So he, in a fit of barely surpressed rage, let Bailey out to go potty.  While outside, Bailey decided it'd be fun to take off.  Husband chased him, which made Bailey run further.  Husband found Bailey in the middle of a busy street & tried to get him into the car, but no dice.  Unfortunately, Bailey is terrified of Husband, so he kept running from him.  The last Husband saw of him, he was running down 32nd Street towards Liberty.  *sigh

We looked for him that night, but to no avail.  It was hard because it had been a lot warmer during the day, so a lot of snow had melted.  When the sun went down, it froze & was pretty trecherous.  He didn't come home all weekend, but he did have his dog license on his collar, thank God.  Someone found him & this morning Animal Control showed up, asking "did you lose a white corgi?"  Thank goodness!  When I had told the kids he was missing, their response was "but he's our last connection with Grandma!"  He was my mom's dog, you see.  So we're all grateful he's back.  Except maybe for Husband, who hates all dogs.

What made this all the worse was that I had to tell Daughter some rather harsh truths today.  It seems she had decided to call Ex from school on Thurs.  This was entierely of her own volition, but of course, he didn't see it that way.  He sent a very nasty email accusing me of telling her to call him, of using her as a messanger, destroying her self esteem, etc.  He said when he questioned her about it, she told him that I told her to call.  So, I asked her about that this AM. And, according to Daughter, that is *not* what happened at all.  He's lying again.  Telling lies that can easily be disproven.  Like, by his own admission, this voicemail came in at noon.  So how could I have told Daughter to call him when she doesn't get out of school until 2:30?   Weird stuff like that.  Husband thinks he's blowing smoke, but I'm not so sure.  I think he truly believes they had this conversation.  He's just getting so weird.  Like he's on track for a psychotic break.  Or maybe not.

I had a job interview today.  It was for a doctor's office.  I hope it comes through.  It'd be so nice to sleep in the dark & see the sun on a regular basis.  Especially now that spring isn't far away.  I love spring.  I love the earth being reborn, all the pretty flowers, the days getting longer & (eventually) warmer.  Even all the mud is cool with me.

Well, I'm gonna go pull the kids off of each other.  Later.  :-)
