What the hell is wrong with people? How can someone flip out like that guy at VA Tech. and just go on a killing spree? I want to know what pressed this guy's button

Being a gun person and a lifetime NRA member I actually don't see an issue with having gun control laws. I know many people don't like them, but depending on how strict they are I agree with them. That's the basis of problem though. Why are some guns legal in one state, but not in the next? Gun locks, Gun safes (not law, but good idea), Waiting periods, Required license to own, Registering guns and license with the police force, certain guns banned, etc.. These things do not bother me. Massachusetts has fairly strict gun laws and strict licensing process.
Virginia not so much. The news reported this guy actually bought his guns legally in March and illegally used them. You can't stop that from happening.
How about in Texas, where if you feel your life is threatened you can use deadly force?
Psych reviews for possible owners? Not in this PC, HIPPA hampered/privileged, nation.

Actually firearm attacks do happen in other 1st world nations, but they definitely happen less often than here. Like stated in the attached articles above (I actually remember hearing about the one in Germany when it happened). Obviously I can't just blame the gunman in any of the cases, but in truth they hold the most responsibility. Someone makes the decision to kill, and they choose whatever weapon makes them feel the most comfortable/confident doing it.

One argument that I hate is the people that try to rationalize gun ownership by saying if someone else had a gun they could have stopped it. That's RETARDED. It's like saying "If I had a bomb I could have blown that guy up before he blew himself up in that store" HUH?

Oh, no doubt knives and swords are different than guns, and no I don't think you could take that many people out with nunchucks. What I was saying is the mindset of the person usually determines the weapon they choose.
I was writing something up regarding weapon to act/desired effect, but it was getting lengthy. Here is the gun part:
Firearm - A precision instrument that can act on multiple targets in a widespread arena in a limited amount of time. The person using this weapon illegally typically has an agenda or grudge against several types/groups of people, not one specific person. This not only allows a level of detachment from the actual act, but makes for ease of self termination with possible instantaneous death.
You're right about unnecessary firearms in the market and the rednecks. Although I want the automatic shotgun I saw on Futureweapons, nobody in the public needs that.
