-- Been a weird week. Crazy days at work, fun nights.
-- Had a really good time tonight. A friend of mine has family that's involved with the DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival, which started tonight. So we got comped to tonight's film at the Landmark E Street Cinema (A great place that I don't get out to often enough, I've gotta work on that), which was "The Motel." It's about a 13-year-old American kid of Chinese descent whose family owns a kinda sleazy hotel. The movie's about the kid's trek through puberty and his interaction with his family, tenants, and girls. Really good film, and I hope it does well when it gets into general release next year.
-- It was precded by a five-minute short film called "Kata Practice" where a six-year-old boy uses his martial arts training to prepare him for a tough fight. I didn't know I could be touched by a five-minute film, but man...it must have been a bit dusty in that movie theatre. All of this was followed by a reception at a new nightspot in town that looks to be a bit too upscale and meat-market-y for my taste, but was great for that setting.
-- I am all about catching some more of these films during the festvial. Will report here with the ones I get to see.
-- And I loved the Happy Tree Friends cameo during the film.
-- Adams Morgan tomorrow night, DC against the, heh heh heh, "super club" on Saturday, and hopefully some more of the Film Festival on Sunday. Man, who has time to sleep?
