Skylab And The Cops

Fun title huh? lol

As for the cops I got stopped on my bike at night for not having a light. The guy was nice enough. We did the whole bit of search and are you carrying weapons (standard procedure) then he and I went on our seperate ways.
Though I had to walk not ride the bike home :(

The Skylab part. Well I couldn't much sleep so I started another book. "Entering Space" by Doctor Rober Zubrin. I have read bits and pieces of the book in the time I've owned it. So I decided to challenge it again.

He makes an interesting comparison between the old Skylab and the modern ISS Space Station. Skylab was launched in a one shot deal. Lower cost and a good station. The ISS is supposed to be launched and assembled in multiple pieces in space. And frankly costs ALOT. It is far from done as well.

Also, its smaller than Skylab. Skylab launched in 1973 when I was like 2 years old. There is detail behind it. I like Zubrin. He pulls no punches on the state of NASA. He used to work at onetime as an engineer for Lockheed Martin. So some of what he writes is from a point of view of someone whom has been there.

So far I am only into the beginning of the second chapter. He didn't dice the book up into tiny chapters but thick slotted hunks of info and commentary. On the past, present, and future of spaceflight.

As a side note about Zubrin though he may not hold this as a shinny metal on his coat. One of the things he has done amongst many is to be a proponent of nuclear powered spacecraft. He came up with a theoretical design of what is called the "Nuclear Salt Water Rocket"

I may not agree with every single little point he makes. However, he makes sense and I respect him for his effort.
