too much trouble is always more fun

I am increasingly becoming a bigger fan of quinoa everytime I eat some.

this past weekend felt like one long day; I managed to leave JG's place to head to the other side of non-Paris to help Kate with her between Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner. We baked and mushed up sweet potatoes and it was fun. Grocery-shopping at a new place is also exciting.

thanks to utube, I ended up staying there late, and Kate's hubby-to-be Dave says I shouldn't go home alone at that hour. so they pulled out their couch and I slept with my contacts soaking in a saline-filled teacup. that was my primary concern. I'm pretty sure the cat hopped on me a few times during the night/morning, but I didn't care; me was tired as fuck from the lack of sleep during the crazy week. plus, spending an hour going home and then coming back the next day just seemed like too much trouble.

morning came and sunday felt like a continuation of saturday. we decided it was good that I stayed, so that I can be Kate's Thanksgiving elf/gnome. my sous-chef position put me in charge of all of the mis-en-place so I chopped and peeled and diced and stirred and boiled and swept and wiped....and burnt my wrist :/

people began piling in after the sun went down and I met jo and abby and antonia and the other dave and ann and some australian woman I didn't bother talking to and julia's bf pascal and hot girl claudia and we all sat around on the floor and ate sweet potato pecan pie and crisped green beans and buttermilk mashed potatoes and stuffing with black rice/old baguettes/mushrooms/onions/thyme/raisins cooked in butter and ham poked by cloves/glazed with molasses/honey/butter...
and then I found out that antonia's a MTF. I just thought she's another one of Kate's pretty friends.
and pascal told me that julia drove while she was living in France. does this mean I can drive, too? maaaaybee.

dialogued (or, trialogued) today:

cnez: so, do you have a boyfriend?
me: I don't, and actually, that question makes me uncomfortable *goes on to explain why*
cnez: oh! you're right, I shouldn't have asked like that.
cla: *gasp* I asked you that last week! I'm so sorry! let me rephrase, "are you currently with someone?"
me: no :)
