Thank youuuu~ I just kept waiting for the finale to pick up or show us what the point was (because it seriously couldn't have just been an hour of UNDOING the past 7 YEARS right?) I even held out on the end waiting for Future!Ted to reveal the blue french horn wasn't to get Robin back, it was because as he went back over the story he realized the whole Barney/Robin thing ended completely contradictory and randomly and what's up with that. Because the ending *couldn't* just be the season 2 cycle continuing again could it? (I should actually write some sort of epilogue fanfic for this)
I still want to believe that Robin is really just an undercover for Maria Hill and she took a huge risk marrying Barney and their whole divorce was to protect him from being kidnapped or w/e
And what, the whole thing about us learning to love the mother was for nothing anyway because the moral of HIMYM is waiting for the perfect person doesn't matter because the person you build up in your mind and the *idea* you fall in love with (instead of the person themselves mind you) will be the ultimate end goal? Right.
This ending was for season 1 (maybe even season 2) and it feels like a slap to the face (no pun intended) that they refused to tweak the ending to account for the 7+ years of changes and development. That just feels like lazy writing to me.
