I would have been completely okay with Barney and Robin getting divorced, honestly, if it'd gone a lot like one of your options - like, they divorce, because marriage just isn't working out for them, but they continue to see each other, continue to love each other, and have a non-traditional happy ever after because "traditional" just isn't THEM. That, I would have been very satisfied with. For a while, I thought that was how it was actually going to end up. :/ *sigh*
I DID like the bit with Ellie. I thought it was incredibly sweet that the "love of Barney's life" was his daughter, and that she was the person who managed to get him to give up his womanizing ways.
