Day 20 - Favorite genre.
Hmm... Favorite video game
genre you say? How could I possibly pick from one, there are so many...
Is it even possible to choose a definitive one? Every game is different, reinventing the genre they so belong, or maybe even creating their own genre or combining them.
Of course, genres do exist to categorize a group of games, breaking down the generalization of the world of gaming into neat little boxes, but as the real world gears turn and time pushes forward, everyone knows that these boxes become more and more distorted until they resemble the impossible shape. Funny how that works.
So in that sense genres are not a bad thing, but then again I never said they were; or did I imply it?
Also regarding the categorizing of genre, what does it say about my personality by choosing one? Does it define me or defy me? Not even for the eyes of the public but for me internally. In fact, what effect does any decision, no matter or deep or simplistic it is, affect me. For a moment, each moment, the mind is focused in on that decision and that is the sole direction it takes. Any direction will have an effect on the journey, whether it serves to amplify the road or deter it. Will this impending choice deter or press me forward?
A lie is a definite detour in such a road, but the truth is hidden, why is it like that?
The genre of a video game serves as the embodiment of what lies within, so by zeroing in on one will it become a door into the world of opinion of myself? Or will it be a trap. That's where the lie may come into play, but even then that can be a door into that very world as well. So many doors to such a vast world. One never realizes how big a world, a thought, can be until you can see how many different ways you can come into it. But of course, a door's only power is to let you in and out (sometimes); who am I to say that the outer audience will bestow such a power on one?
We can even jump into the idea of 'keys', but lets not get ahead of ourselves...
But right, topic of origin, video game genres, *right*.
Role-playing games (of the eastern variety).
Huh? Why eastern? Well...
