I got to work this morning and got an email from my brother. Here's an excerpt:
"Dad's in the hospital again. Not a stroke, but they don't know what IS the matter with him. He's coherent and okayish and it wasn't a mandatory admission to the hospital but a strong recommendation since they hadn't figured out what was going on. I heard him making noises when he was getting dressed this morning, which he always does because of his joint pain, but it went on longer than usual so I went to see if he was okay. He'd been sitting on his bed to put his socks on and fallen back onto the bed (with his legs off, feet toward the floor) and he couldn't sit back up. I called 911 and Stacy and we all spent the morning in the ER at North Memorial. They thought maybe a urinary tract infection but it wasn't that. More blood work, some walking tests, they didn't know what was what yet but recommended he be admitted to the hospital for the night. I hadn't slept and am still sick (though getting better) so Stacy brought me home around 1:30 and then went back. She left a message about 7 saying she was just leaving the hospital and they still didn't really know anything. She'll be going back tomorrow morning, and I might be too, depending on how I feel and what they know etc. I thought about waiting until we know something, but I'd be displeased if you or Stacy did that, so I've told you what I know. I'll let you know as soon as I know anything else. I'd say don't worry, but you will anyway; but don't worry excessively just yet."
This, by the way, is my non-biological dad...the "cool" one. He had been hospitalized with a stroke over the summer when I was in the US. When he was getting his cancer treatments, they raidated his brain, too, since the cancer type he had often went to the brain and to stop it from happening, they did that...and his brain is, with time, hardening and his motor skills have been going downhill quickly...he is very unsteady.
