YAY it's out (OK I gotta really fix this gif of Jinwoon. his winking is so much better in the video)
I'm watching this for the cutie from 2AM (my last year's music obsession), Jinwoon.
I wasn't expecting much in terms of acting or plot. I wish that it had the charms of last year's production.
Sadly that didn't happened.
Jinwoon and Kang Sora are the only things that are really special about this production. Like I said I went on a 2AM craze last year, and have been gobbling up their MVs. I've always thought Seulong as the actor (I've watch him in You Wouldn't Pick Up My Call - he was pretty amazing in it. I didn't even realize that he was an idol in Lee Minho's drama, Personal Preference) but dismissed the maknae of the group. Yes I've read that Jinwoon went to some sort of acting school...but he wasn't a main part of the MVs, so I didn't give him much thought. But he's alright here. If I didn't know any better. I'd thought he was a new actor.
I like Jinwoon's character, Jin Yoo Jin. Along with Kang Sora's Hye Sung, they are the breath of fresh air for the school, whose purpose is for churning out idols. Yoo Jin and Hye Sung do not conform to the norm. Yoo Jin likes rock, which really isn't popular in Korea - and opposes pop/idol (haha which is so hilarious because Jinwoon is from an idol group in real life, even though he does have a taste for indie rock music - he writes
his own rock tunes). And Hye Sung, frankly has no musical abilities/talent whatsoever (she got in through purely because of her high academics).
I'm just eager to see what kind of havoc that Hyesung gets herself into and Yoo Jin showcasing his talent).
BUT there is a down side to this drama.
What pisses me most off about this drama is...JB. OK I admit, I did post on twitter that JB's acting was fine (the character and actor has the same name) in the first episode. Yes, a bit stiff and wooden, but what can I expect from a newly minted idol with not much of acting experience? I just really find his character annoying. Ugh.
.
I wish there was more...heart in the drama? There's a bit of charm missing from the first drama. It's not something tangible. It's not like the other series cast members has better acting abilities (kang sora and jinwoon are better than the original cast, with the exception of
Kim Soo Hyun. They are probably on par with
Eun Jung).
Something's missing, but I'm glad that it's getting better after ep. 4.
I hope they keep it up.
