My first evening off in nine days. I'm doing 70mph on the highway, on my way to dinner and a night of gaming with Dil. One moment everything is fine and the next the truck just losses power...
Well shit!
I manage to coast off to the exist ramp and pull off on the side of the road...onto an incline and in front of a stop sign. :( The only other person with a car that time of night is Denise. Being the loving, but not quite bright at times sister she is, she comes to help me...BY HERSELF! Knowing we would have to move the truck *and* that it was sitting on an incline! Why hadn't she stopped to get the guys? Did she really expect the two of us to be able to do this alone? I was very frustrated at this point, cursing my luck, her optimism, and the world in general. You'd think someone would stop and offer assistance, but noooo! Not one damned person stopped!
Ok, looking back on it I can't really make remarks about being not quite bright because at that point I'm like "the Hell with it, let's try."
Two girls.
At night.
Trying to move a massive truck.
Up an incline of loose gravel and dirt!
Being the smaller of the two of us, she's working the wheel and brakes and I am at the back of the truck ready to push. As soon as she lets off the break the truck begins to roll, the gravel slides, I completely lose my footing and go staight down on my knees onto rocks...
I am sooo lucky she saw me fall and hit the brakes. As it was, the truck still slid back a bit and knocked me backwards even as I'm on my knees. STUPID BARB! I really should have known better to even attempt it! Gawds, I put myself in a situation where I really could have been seriously hurt. I'm damned fortunate that I only came away with bloody knees and bruises.
We finally got a hold of Adam. He brought some friends to help out and they managed to move it across the street to the Subway, where it will sit until Monday. I hope we can get it fixed Monday.
So until my next adventure....
