Merry Christmas Little Children!

Dec 24, 2004 23:07

Christmas Eve. My oh my. I still have to wrap my sister's presents. Whoopsie.

I think that traditions are so absurd and I don't really get them. Yet somehow, I always feel better when a tradition is adhered to.

I (along with my family) always do at least a variety of the following on Christmas Eve:

go to the candlelight church service
play with candle wax during church sevice much to the dismay of my parents
watch "Charlie Brown Christmas"
watch "A Christmas Story"
read "The Polar Express" with William Hurt narrating it on tape
read "Merry Christmas Harry" (easily one of the best Christmas children's books EVER)
eat one of the bloomin' onions from a dining establishment (like the Outback or Chili's)
drive around and look at Christmas lights
eat every single Christmas cookie/sweet related item and chips (or bugles) and dip and cheese ball and crackers and sparkling cider
ask to open presents tonight
take a picture in front of the Christmas tree

hmmmm...that's all that I can remember. This year we did all but read the two books. But we did watch a debate about Jesus on Larry King Live with a Christian pastor, a Jewish guy, and Deepak Chopra (a Hindu?, wonderful author).

We also saw "The Phantom of the Opera" in the movie theatre today. It was a veritable feast for the eyes.

Better go to sleep before Santa comes. You too!
