Changmin, Junsu, Yoochun, and Jaejoong nodded their heads at Yunho’s words. No doubt that they were afraid, but they couldn’t let their fear hold them back right now.
Yunho went in the direction Changmin, Junsu, and Yoochun came from earlier with his team members trailing behind him. The quintet had no time to gather the food rations they collected. Yunho didn’t want to risk their getting caught. Instead, Yunho decided to snake through the cornfield since he hoped that they would not see them there.
I wonder if it matters, thought Yunho. At first, he could not figure out for the life of him how they were able to pinpoint the exact location of the fivesome’s positions. It should not have taken them this short amount of time to find their whereabouts. He had prayed that maybe the appearance of the ominous black car was a coincidence, a sick coincidence. However, after his discovery a while ago, he knew better…
Yesterday…
Three young men sweated in the middle of the cornfield under the blazing sun. They were gathering shucks of corn to carry back to the abandoned barn house Yoochun found for them not too long ago. Jaejoong looked at each individual shuck, making sure it was edible for the group. Once he was satisfied, the dirtied angel tossed the green and yellow vegetable to the dirtied gentleman. Yoochun caught the corn and shucked it to be placed in the handmade basket the leader of the team was holding. They repeated this process (God knows how many times) from noon to dusk. Finally feeling successful about their mission, the trio made their way back to the barn house where Junsu and Changmin were waiting for their return.
Five boys sat down to eat what they found for the day, including the berries Junsu found near the barn while he was taking care of Changmin’s health. Of course, the others double-checked the berries to make sure they were not poisonous; Junsu was slightly offended. “I know what poisonous berries look like! Sheesh! >.>”
Yunho was amused by Junsu’s behavior and was grateful that he was regaining some of his spirit back. He gazed at the annoyed expression on the dolphin-boy’s face, which was illuminated a little bit by the dangling cross earring Junsu had on. Such a unique design…, Yunho thought as he fondled his own black stud piercing.
Wait a minute…
Yunho had a sudden fear come over him. He no longer paid attention to the teasing that the soulmate couple were giving to Junsu while Changmin laughed weakly at his hyungs. Yunho’s sole focus was on a dreadful revelation.
“Give me your earrings!”
The other four were startled by their leader’s sudden stern voice. “What?! o_O Hyung, why?”
“Give them to me…NOW!”
Yoochun and Jaejoong asked no more questions and followed Yunho’s command immediately. Junsu swiftly took off his cross earrings and helped Changmin remove his. Yunho made haste to remove his black studs and threw them on the ground. The others followed his actions, wondering why their leader was so freaked out.
Then, Yunho preceded to stomp on them.
“What the…?! Hyung, what are doing?”
“I’m saving our behinds!”
“Hyung, what are you talking about?”
“*Bleep!* Trackers!”
Junsu’s, Yoochun’s, and Changmin’s eyes widened at Jaejoong’s words. Trackers? Their earrings had trackers in them?!
Yoochun gave a sarcastic laugh, which was followed with a complimentary swear word. Why the little…
Changmin had an idea that the group may have had trackers on them, but he wasn’t sure where. Those earrings were solely their own, so they had nothing to do with the ear piercings. However, using an item that would be least expected to be a tracking device made sense. Crap…
Present…
Yunho felt like such a bad leader for not recognizing the danger sooner. If he had, maybe he could have made a better plan. Maybe he could have gotten the group further away from them. Maybe…
Yunho sighed. No more maybe’s. That’s the past. Right now, I need all that I can to get my team as far away as possible from those “vultures", Yunho thought with determination. They will not drag my brothers back to that place. I’ll give my life before that happens.
The brothers silently maneuvered through the tall crops of corn, making their way to the woods on the other side. Yoochun followed close behind Yunho, and Jaejoong stuck close to Junsu and Changmin.
Although he wanted to make sure Junsu and Changmin didn’t get left behind, Jaejoong mainly kept a slower pace for Changmin. He knew the maknae wasn’t completely well yet, so he walked just fast enough for Changmin to keep up and still maintain sight of Yoochun and Yunho.
Once they made it to the edge of the woods, Yunho motioned for his four brothers to move ahead of him. He wanted to make sure that they were not close behind. If so, Yunho wanted to make sure his team got a chance to get away. As Yunho scouted the cornfield, Yoochun, Junsu, and Jaejoong made their way into the woods. Changmin paused to wait for his leader. He didn’t want to leave his hyung behind.
“Changmin, go,” commanded Yunho without turning around, “Catch up with the others.”
“But hyung…” Changmin tried to retort.
“Go.”
The maknae wanted to rebel, but, as always, an order was an order. He left his brother behind, dashing into the green forest to catch up with his other hyungs.
