i'd be willing to bet that police stations don't even have toliet paper, just rolls of the constitution.
the state - my passion. i dedicate every moment to learning about our government and how to make it a better tool for the people. but there's that one sector, the justice system, that i fight everyday to keep from destroying my spirit. you know every time there is a vote to give the police more funding the public turns it down. we vote against police enforcement, we say no, we are trying to tell them something needs to change. yet, they keep filling their quotas, "protecting and serving", making their cash in corrupt ways because we have turned our backs.
i'm disappointed.
now i'm not saying it's all bad, my aunt for example is a sheriff. she's intelligent and judges her job with reason, rather than bureaucracy. i've had police officers legitimately defend the law and me, but mostly not. that's what bothers me, the lack of emotion, the lack of humanity. not to mention that a good majority of police officers i've ever met are chauvinistic pigs. always fucking with the minorities. our tempe sheriff is famous for being an a-class prick. he arrested local reporters in the middle of the night, in front of their families for publishing weekly police reports. this man was recently re-elected despite being heavily campaigned against by the people. i don't understand how that shit happens, unless of course the obvious reason; election rigging.
i think the problem is education. these people, if they even attended college, only study things like criminal justice. rarely have they taken psychology, sociology, history, or political science. if they have they use it to manipulate rather than learn and understand people. i wish police officers saw the power they have to do good, i wish they looked at people with optimism, a search for good in the terrible world the see every day. i mean really, i understand that these people go through a lot and face more negativity than anything else, but to me that seems like it'd come out inspiration, not animosity. that's just me though, i look for positives. i don't think there is a productive way to live that doesn't do the same.
i mean these are the only citizens we arm, and with no educational requirement. i think it would benefit everyone, plus offer a better life and role in society for these men and women. i hope this does change. i can see it happening one day, with the tremendous amount of power and passion our generation has displayed. i'm going to talk to my aunt about this at christmas and see what she thinks.
