According to this table from Contraceptive Technology, progestin-only pills have a failure rate of 0.3% with perfect use (taken correctly every time) and a failure rate of 8% with typical use (the average of what happens to actual people out in Real Life).
If you're not comfortable with an 8% annual failure rate, then it may make sense to use a back up method, at least to start with. After you monitor your pill-taking habits for a while, you may decide that you're comfortable relying on the pill alone -- or that you like having a back up method after all.
