Works-in-progress meme

Aug 02, 2007 19:55

Not tagged by anyone, but it's a cool meme, and since I'm not getting anywhere on anything, it's a cheap way to feel productive.

Excerpts from various WsIP that I've actually started, in order from oldest to newest:

A BtVS/Angel Spike/William story )

:D I love Remus so much. I'm so happy my muse stopped moping and got his voice back. :: snuggles him ::

ALIENS! :D

I think I am just hamstrung by how much it is going to involve.

I know. *pats soothingly* And you work so hard at fandom as it is.

But maybe not everything has to be for polished publication and glory? Sometimes it's fun to have a little universe to dabble in just for fun and relaxation. I have a few of those myself, that bring me pleasure without the pressure. :D

*whispers subliminally* ALIENZ...

I know just what you mean, but ever since I started this LJ, I've been pretty much unable to write anything for myself, to keep on my hard drive, like I used to. There's always an audience in my head. Even when I start a story and tell myself it's for my eyes only, there's a little voice that whispers, but if it's good, you can post it! *clutches hair*

aliens....must write aliens....

I like them all - and I want to know what happens next! But I'm going to break character and vote Sestina Remus, because your sestinas rule the world.

I have a boating accident WIP too, but I have no idea what to do with it. Hmm. I think I'll do this meme as well, so I can keep track of all my unfinished stories without scrolling, scrolling, scrolling (rawhide).

*snerk* Thanks, now I'll probably have that stuck in my head for a while.

Also -- ooh, a peek into your hard drive. Looking forward to that!

I could tell you what happens next in any of them -- it's just that they're not actually written. One of my long-term writing problems is that I can plan out what I want to do, but sometimes the lines themselves are slow and torturous to get down.

Wilson sort of demands a boating accident story, don't you think? Between the attractions of hurt/comfort and all those models and photographs he's got in his office, it's inevitable.

Sorry! It's a half-day Friday before a long weekend, so I'm a bit giddy and spaced out right now (which is not at all helping me write an overview of Canada's Hundred Days).

I tend to be the opposite in writing - I'll think of an idea or a scene, and I'll have a broad-stroke sense of what the story is about, but it's not until I actually start writing that I discover the plan. I might know what's going to happen next, but I don't always know how it's going to end. Except for one WIP, which currently consists solely of the first line and the last line :)

Hee. It does vary story by story, but it so happens that for everything listed above, there is a Grand Plan that is just having difficulty being realized line by line.

Happy long weekend! I'm about to have my friend catilinarian over till Tuesday, though I've got to go to work Mon & Tues, so see you in a few days...
