Vids inna museum

I previewed some pix on Twitter, but posting about Friday's visit to the opening of the Vancouver Art Gallery's giant multimedia exhibition on 20th-21st century mashups felt daunting until I realized I don't actually have to write an essay on that history and the place of vidding within it, nor an analysis of the objects the curators chose for ( Read more... )

WOOT! I am sorry I don't have brain to write you the essay you deserve. Your art is being held up as Art! This is so thrilling! I am so delighted for you and for vidding and for the world!

I did miss the original announcement, so a belated CONGRATULATIONS and a huge WHEEEE, THAT'S SO COOL! It's so awesome to see these things being taken seriously and lifted to such a high profile.

The corridor arrangement does seem a little odd, but hopefully vids will catch people's eyes as they walk past. So brilliant that they're there at all, really :)

Way to rep the fan community! I'm always interested in how non-fandom people encounter fandom things, so I especially appreciated the description of how people interacted with the exhibit. Congrats on being a "Artist" in addition to already being an artist!

OMG, OMG, OMG - even second hand this is so awesome and exciting and I'm totally flailing. Thank you so much for the write up and pics, this is the second best thing to actually being there. It's a shame though that the setup didn't allow for the vids to run with surround audio instead of headphones. Otherwise I'm sure more people whould have stopped and watched. I mean, starships only is a amazing as it is because of the match between visuals, music and lyrics, and to people who do not know what vidding is that might be totally lost as they walk past.
