Vid got done, cinco provided great beta services, and it will be showing at WisCon tomorrow night, so I should be able to post it here Saturday morning. Yay! I am looking forward to sharing it as well as to watching the enticing-looking vids that've been coming out of Vidukon and will be coming out of WisCon.

Oh my.....and no, it does not get any better. The last installment is the weakest of the lot. See, I'm a completist, too, even if it kills me. Luckily bad witing isn't lethal. Oh my...

A plane may be the perfect place to read it, then!

My friend whom I'm visiting, who enjoyed the books, told me that the second was the best. That doesn't bode well, either.

The scary thing is - the book ends with 'This is it - for now...'

The sad thing is, I think with some reallly radical editing and cutting it down to one volume, this could have been a much, much better story. Alas, at least now we get fanfic on fanfic, which must be a first....

The pathologizing of kink and D/s seems particularly bizarre to me considering that ... this is the whole reason why these books exist. I guess it's more comprehensible to me to see that kind of thing in, say, a random episode of a TV show written by people who have no interest in it, as opposed to a book which is basically D/s porn. It'd be like writing a really long, id-stroking h/c fic only to point out repeatedly in the fic itself how sick it is for people to be into that sort of thing. MAKES NO SENSE!

One of the reasons I want to finish the trilogy is to see whether/how the depiction of Christian's sexual psyche and Ana's own preferences (which are growing for kink that doesn't involve pain) evolves into something more accepting. If the first book was Christian=super-kinky and Ana=super-conservative/"vanilla", and the second was about Christian coming over to Ana's side of the spectrum while she allows kink from time to time because her curiosity is growing (I disagree with Ana's argument in the book that they're meeting in the middle), then maybe three is them finding more of a non-judgmental balance? Everyone changes arguments and opinions so often that reading this stuff is like making a scatter plot - it's only at the end that you can make out what the line was.

I didn't realize until after that the male actor has concentrated on burlesque for his career. It makes sense, given how he moved his body throughout, and I like it!

Still think Janet forcing Hugh to force Natasha to accept him spitting mouthwash into her mouth was one of the sexiest things about the show. *happy sigh* And the "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" parody was awesome.

"I am perfect, going on godlike"!

I liked how he moved his body as well - felt very Chicago to me for some reason (plus, yes, stripper-like, also A+) especially in the opening number. Thumbs up to that and to what you enjoyed most as well!

i can't remember if i'd already spoiled myself somewhere for mrs. robinson actually turning out to be ~evil~ after all. but i'm not surprised. it fits with the first book's general overall message that bdsm really IS evil and bad and you need to be trained out of it through love and only maybe some very light softcore kink is permissible.

wow i'm super surprised at that second kinky sex scene you described. like, surprised that it even exists in this book haha. and that ana enjoyed it. interesting.

since it's kind of hard to Google "Fifty Shades of Grey Christian [anything]." >> hahaha TRUTH XD

She totally got off on it in about 30 seconds as usual, which gives me some hope for the last book, which also is the one with handcuffs on the cover. *shrug*

***POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR THIRD BOOK***

MAY I ADD HOWEVER that I have only read the dedication pages and the first paragraph, and already there has been a thank-you to someone for helping answer questions about the American adoption system. This does not bode well.
