Yes on the P.S.! I really like the theory that House is bisexual, either in potential or in experience, and this kind of distinction makes me think the possibility is being left open for that. Anyway, from a gen point of view, it's great to see that he continues to be knowledgeable & tolerant and so forth about this kind of thing. (Was it you I was talking about this with -- that House never picks on patients for their sexuality, but only for being idiots?)
Your third paragraph has made me thinky. I don't know if I can untangle everything it's bringing up in my head, but thank you. Stuff about whether House should encourage or appreciate appreciation in others so he can experience it vicariously, and whether he needs to pull out of his cynicism (and atheism, but that's a whole other can of worms) when it's so integral to who he is and not necessarily a flaw -- and whether these changes or lack of changes can be tracked consistently throughout the series. (As for why the PsOTW always have to mirror/contrast with/analyze House, I've long ago given up.)
