BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A school bus driver has been charged with aggravated battery after allegedly advising a junior high school student to attack a younger passenger. Melissa Flax, 28, of Bloomington, is liable for the fight between the 14-year-old and 12-year-old girls because she encouraged the beating. Several children who were on the bus reported hearing the 14-year-old say that her father had told her to beat up the 12-year-old girl, Messman said. Flax allegedly told the girl, "Do what your father told you to do."
The older girl struck the 12-year-old repeatedly in the back of the bus until another passenger pulled them apart. The younger girl -- who was taken to a local hospital -- did not fight back during the altercation, but she did try to push the 14-year-old away
Flax allegedly ordered some of the students on the bus to stand in front of a surveillance camera, blocking the fight, but the camera recorded some of the incident.
