(no subject)
my sister is making origami cats. my other sister is doing her physics homework. i am eating frozen blueberries and thinking about everything else i should be doing.
"see how bizarre it looks if the head is on this side?" anna says. she bends the tiny cat face. "so i switched the body around so that the hands are in front, see? do you like it, ray?"
"mmm-hmm. really cute." rachel returns to her homework. she's chewing her pencil.
"i think i will carry this origami book around with me at school. so then in study hall, i can make the whole book. hello kitty purses, hello kitty shoes, hello kitty clocks, hello kitty flowers...there's EVERYTHING in it."
now peter gabriel is playing and i tell them about that scene in say anything.
and everything is so good. i am reminded these days, yet again, of how lucky i am.
i like being home, actually.

"when 'your eyes' ends, can we play it again? put it on repeat."
and we hear that voice heartbreaking through the computer speakers once again:
