I admit, during episode 15 and 16 of City Hunter I was starting to get bored and a little fatigued with the constant back and forth between Yoon Sung/Nana, Yoon Sung/Daddy, the Kyung Hee stuff, the Who Is Yoon Sung's Daddy, Today? and the targets.
BUT EPISODE EIGHTEEN. EPISODE EIGHTEEN, YOU GUYS!!!!
CAN WE HAVE A SPIN OFF SHOW WITH JUST THE PROSECUTOR AND YOON SUNG? CAN THEY SOMEHOW WORK TOGETHER? CAN THEY SHOWER TOGETHER? AND BE ALL BADASS AND RIGHTEOUS AND SAVE THE WORLD ONE DAY AT A TIME? It would be like Kurosaki and Tsurara SHOULD have been, except without the heterosexuality, and without any kissing EXCEPT WHERE WERE THE KISSES, KUROSAGI? WHERE WERE THE KISSES?!?!
But still with all the daddy issues and the arguments over right vs. wrong and the law and justice and revenge and the sexual tension. What? No I was not imagining some sort of angry make out session during the last scene in episode 18!
But that last scene. CITY HUNTER, I LOVE YOU AGAIN. I'M SORRY I DOUBTED YOU. I AM NOT WORTHY.
If 15 and 16 (in my opinion) simply re-tread plot points and dynamics that we've already seen (Yoon Sung pushing Nana away, Jin Pyo threatening Yoon Sung, the Prosecutor being kind of a dick but also really hot) then City Hunter somehow found a way to switch up the dynamics all over again in episode 18, without sacrificing plot movement or tension. The Prosecutor/Yoon Sung dynamic might be my favorite in the entire show, and I love that in this episode the Prosecutor is forced to consider that the City Hunter has supporters among the public and that he may not be completely evil.
How much did I love that Yoon Sung just oh so easily grabbed the gun right out of the Prosecutor's hand and turned it on him, before you could even blink. Prosecutor, I love you, but don't you think having a gun is kind of NOT IN YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION?!
And also- DO you hate the City Hunter, or do you not hate the City Hunter? You obviously have some sort of revenge-type desire to bring him down, but you also believe he'd do the right thing by helping out Haewon Group. I hope it's the latter.
Yoon Sung using the internet to confuse and trip up Young Ju- I love it so much!
And Ahjussi, I am SO GLAD he didn't die. Who else would ask dangerous, gun-wielding prisoners what they like to eat?
