Many would use such an anecdote against Bush's foreign policy. Let's think for a moment. Saddam Hussein murdered members of his own family. Are you people so comforted and sheltered (to you liberals! ahem) as to believe that evil does not exist in our world? There can be no negotiations with someone who began killing in their developmental years before becoming even a teenager. Which of you would off a teacher and your own family, millions of your country people, and millions more of another to seize more control and ascertain absolute power?
More thoughts:
Today I met a Vietnamese refugee. He never did know why the U.S. left his country during 74, they just did. Then the North took control and told his brothers in the army to bring 3 days worth of rations and clothing to be "re-educated." This turned into a 15 year labor sentence, where man is treated lower than an animal. It took him 4 attempts to escape his country, 2 resulting in his arrest. Since 1954 when the French were defeated, his heart has grown cold witnessing his own rendition of Fallujah for 3 decades until his escape. Every day people were being shot in the streets, bodies lining up for those who opposed the regime. No one is to go to the market to buy food, nothing can be bought by anyone other than Communist Government Officers. There are set rations, maybe a kilo of sugar to last the month, a kilo of rice for a week, mostly meager rationing. Each ten houses were assigned a police officer who lived there to document your every move and speech. If you wished to visit a friend a stay at their house for the night you must first request permission from the officer with a written explanation of why you wished to see them. The officer may or may not grant permission, if so there would be documentation brought to the friend's presiding officer who would then watch over you. No radio, Television yes, one channel. The communist regimes channel of their greatness.
Americans today are so caught up with ourselves that we forget to think about others. No wonder there is so much depression. Think about it now. Why are you all depressed, is it that chemical imbalance, or did that boy you met at the club fuck you and leave? oh dear....If these people had mental disorder and knew about it they'd forget because they can't eat, they can't go out, they are denied basic rights we take for granted. If a woman was allegedly promiscuous, they'd be murdered. I know this will piss you off people, but half or more of the girls who write on this journal would have been stoned or shot by now! not my fault, just the way the world works outside of America and Western society. We aren't living in huts in Africa with AIDS infested villages and family rotting away, if we do have AIDS it was, in most scenarios, our own decision to get that tattooo or fuck that person who seemed so sincere.
People get so worked up over homosexual relations in the states, this man, Chinh Dang, told me gays were shot instantly there if they were caught.
Why has the Laci Scott Peterson trial been all over the media? For the love of God people there are decent things going on in this country, but if we are so obsessed with such abhorrent events on the local news such as the meth addicted mother who killed her baby, which it seems is on every opening local news lineup, can we please focus on things that actually affect our community as a whole and not a few demented, EVIL (that word again) people that should be locked up forever or dare I say put to death, and then we can move on with our lives? I apologize for the incoherent run-on sentence.
There has been more media coverage on the Pacers brawl than the conflict in Fallujah. Anyone home?
Unfortunately journalists today seem to have been raised under the motto "comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable" this standpoint is dividing our nation and the world. However, only those comfortable enough in this world, i.e. residents of the US, have the means to provide peaceful revolution. Now Iraq is not exactly a good example, yet I promise you there would ultimately be far more bloodshed without U.S. intervention. Some people just don't understand that SACRIFICE is a huge part of evolution. Look to history for reference please I have more to write before bed.
Do we control Destiny or vice versa?
example:
My father was in the military during vietnam with a pilots license. But they wouldnt let him enlist as a pilot because his eyes weren't good enough.
Years later they corrected themselves to 20/20
Would he have dropped munitions on innocents or have been shotted down in a hot LZ? He didn't choose his job, he worked his whole life and it somehow chose him. Would I be here? If Mt. St. Helens had never erupted I wouldn't be here. Another story for later.
People ask me everyday if I consider turning professional in golf. I'd shrugged it off only as an idea for years, but it finally dawned on me the other day.
NO
What good will I ever achieve for society? Charities? Any individual can for a golfers shoes on the PGA Tour and give to charity. What needs to be done with the money issue is not give it away, but create trust funds and scholarships.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish, feed him for life.
Knowledge is power, which is why I'm pursuing this Journalism degree. To scour the earth for truth, to help others, to ENLIGHTEN.
As long as YOU are an American, and as long as YOU are healthy, YOU can do anything, make any decisions.
That's right, YOUR OWN CHOICE.
Teal I'm sorry about the other night. I was wondering when you would ever tell me it was you writing anonymously...but you laughed it off on the phone the other day and I let it slide. Oh well, shit happens. I know I wrote on a subject you would back me on, but I will be receptive to any of your feedback, even negative!
