Happy face/Sad face

I'm happy... because today I met author Julie Klassen, who was on a promotion tour for her newest book in The Netherlands. I wrote a review about her second novel The Apothecary's Daughter here. As it was not very busy in the bookstore, I was able to really talk to Julie for a while. We talked about our favourite books (the classics!) and historical reality shows and how you might want to live in the past, but after you learn more about these times maybe not. Julie signed her newest novel The Maid of Fairborne Hall for me and the bookstore gave away small bottles of British brand shampoo. They had also put up a small high tea where all visitors could enjoy a cup and something sweet! I enjoyed it tremendously!

I'm sad... because Livejournal is getting more and more quiet. I think I missed the height of Livejournal, as I only really started to post here 2-3 years ago. But even I can see that lately more and more people stop posting here, the one after the other icontest stops etc. I don't really want to leave LJ, because I've met a lot of great people here to whom I love talking. But... I also like to be able to have my book, movie and tv-related posts to be read by a little wider audience and maybe lead to a little more discussion in the comments.

Now I know Tumblr is thé place to be nowadays, but I wonder, do people really tálk to each other on here? Do people comment or only like/reblog. I've also been thinking about maybe moving to a blogging platform, and I know some of you also have blogs. What do you think, is this a medium which still has a future? Or does it also lead a slowly dying existence?

Don't worry, I will still (re)post to LJ, no matter what I do and I will still read my friends list and comment! Thanks in advance for your input!
