So, today was supposed to include pumpkin carving and Sunday dinner with my housemate, her boyfriend, and her boyfriend's two boys. Unfortunately, my housemate got a call at about 4.30 with the horrible news that her father has had a stroke and they airlifted him to a hospital in Milwaukee. Needless to say, we scuttled the pumpkin carving festivities, and she's headed out there after a few hours of sleep. Please pray or send positive vibes or whatever support you can give for her and her family. Thank you very much.
The closest I got to anything Halloween-y today then was watching a murder mystery. I've a real soft spot for Agatha Christie, so I watched the 1985 version of Thirteen at Dinner (also titled Lord Edgware Dies). Peter Ustinov makes a hilarious Poirot, really camping things up, and Faye Dunnaway is stunning as Jane Wilkinson/Carlotta Adams. I highly recommend it.
