The thing that’s hard about being a person - is being who you want to be. There are a lot of great characters out there for people to relate to, to borrow styling tips from, and perhaps, if we are lucky, we may even gain a little more insight about ourselves. But no matter how fantastical, epic, or real a character is - all that they

As for what it is that makes you who you want to be, the only thing I can even guess at is that you have a list of all the things you like in a life and a person, and you've formed a template based off of that list. I can't answer on your part but I know I do that. I see a person who's not afraid to voice their opinion in the face of adversity and think, 'Ah ha. So that's what I'm missing.' I honestly believe that our dream self is a combination of what we've seen in life and liked, and bits of our DNA telling us to make ourselves meaningful in the grand scheme of things.
Life's not over. There's still a chance to become all of the things you want to become. At least, that's what I like to think. Makes me feel better. :)
Did that help or was I totally off base? I'm horrible at answering existential questions but I really wanted to give this one a shot...

I like your point about not having a redo button on life, do you think we'd ever be happy if we had one? My knee-jerk reaction is that most people would want to, but then I have to stop and really reconsider my answer. In movies (sorry for this reference but it's what I'm going with) when characters have the chance to redo something (a bad choice, a missed date, etc) they usually end up happy in the end - after comedy, drama, and angst. Or, they realize their first choice/path/decision was the correct one for them.
So I'm kind of in a toss up on that. Any thoughts?

I'm thinking we would be happy if we all had a redo button in life. We'd get a chance to reconstruct ourselves to who we wanted to become in the first place and would also be given another chance to correct any mistakes we happened to make along our life path.
Then again, part of me thinks that maybe we wouldn't. What about all of the people who never learn from their mistakes? Or the people who'll do a million bad things a million times and constantly press the redo button so they can avoid the consequences. The negative side of the redo button is that we'll never learn from our mistakes.
So yeah, it's a toss up for me too. Do you think you'd be any different if you were given an unlimited redo button? Would you be any wiser than you are right now?
(BTW, loved the movie reference.)
