I was going through some old Thailand photos, and i thought i would post some piccys of the different types of Taxi that we cought
(there were many)
this is in Viantien (not sure on spelling) after just arriving in Laos
Pistanuloc in central Thailand where tourists rarely venture
sorry for the crappy picture, but it is the only one i have of this type of taxi
Kon Kean i think. Pedal power is MUCH slower that Tuk tuk two stroke (is it two stroke?)
also much slower up hills. we felt sorry for this guy when he had to get out to push us to get over a bridge.
Nong Kai. in north eastern Thailand, just off the boarder with Laos. the most popular crossing point for locals. the drivers were very proud of their shiny bike/Tuk tuks
Bangkok :) this guy was great fun.
h
local busses in Puket town. (puket town is much different from the touristy spots in Phuket) much quieter, nothing for tourists to see, but actual thai culture.
These cute little red vans are everywhere in the touristy places in Phuket
Patong beach was much different. this is what Phuket has come to be. thousands of red taxis lined up alongside MacDonalds, and Irish and australian pubs playing footy on gigantic screens, next to beaches with every inch covered in rentable lie lows, with street vendors waking you up every 5 mins to try and sell you some crappy nik nack....
Laos is much more laid back than Phuket. many of the Tuk Tuk drivers had hammoks in the back to snooze in while they were waiting for a fair. it was almost a shame to wake them. but they were always happy. the Lao people were ALWAYS happy.
I love my girlfriend..... look how cute she is. as you can see, the tuk tuks were very comfortable.
this is just over the boarder in Laos, this little pub along side the Mekong. various tuk tuks waiting outside.
i love this photo.
and lastly, tipical view from the back seat.
damnit now i want to go back...... maybe some day soon :)
