Hi, Just throwing up the last of the Thailand photos
so i believe at the last post of mine i was in Laos. from there we had a relatively uneventful trip down to the islands for the full moon party.
our accomodation was very crappy, but had a nice location. there was much reading in Hammocks with coconut shakes. here is a picture of me making a sand castle.
the full moon party was set on the other side of the island, a short but terrifying taxi ride away. (lots of hills, the taxi drivers are well familair with them, and go as fast as they can to get more trip in)
nice setting, but a little too commercial.
what was amazing about the party was the drinks. they only sold buckets.
Some were bigger than others.
(yes that is a full sized bottle of vodka)
Jess enjoyed herself :)
there was also much fire dancing
The party was actually quite disappointing. a thousand people getting pissed on a beach, and mostly using it as a rubbish bin. bare feet was not really an option. there was also heaps of Thai people running about trying their hardest to sell anything they could to the drunken masses. glow sticks, pictures of you with iguanas and such. also the odd pickpocket. and the music was all shit. :( we didn't party too hard, (we had an interesting night the night before, see Jess's post) we mostly took it easy and just sat down chatting with a couple of other backpackers and got slowly pissed with the party raging around us.
now, coincidentially, my parents also had a trip to Thailand planned, and were going to be there at the same time as us, so we made the trip to Phuket to meet them.
we caught up with my parents in Patong
in this quiet and subdued little bar
Where i challenged my dad to cunning strategy games to decide whose round it was.
(connect four is strangely popular in bars around Patong)
umm... look more food.
Papaya Salad. very spicy.
after Phuket (phuket town is ok, but i dont recommend Patong beach. more tourists than in Khao San Road) we went back to Bangkok to do some last minute shopping before home.
where there was much fun and antics (and hard selling) from the Frog ladies(they always had wooden frogs to sell).
and Jess got herself some new hair
and here it is, on our way home after just after arriving in K.L.
(isnt she cute)
umm... yeah. well that was my holiday. hope you all enjoyed the photos
