Happy Birthday to Emily Dickinson!
She was born on December 10, 1830. In honor of her birthday, here is the first poem I ever memorized:
I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us -- don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.
How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!
It was first published in 1861. I memorized it in 1973.
