Intro + drug interaction question

Hi, I'm Christina from Portugal, 20 years old and studying Biochemistry in university. I was recently (this August) diagnosed with bipolar disorder, after years of depression, taking Lexapro and floating through my first two years of college (which I now recognize as being a manic episode). My psychiatrist initially put me on 50mg of Zoloft and 2mg of cloxazolam at night, and 1mg of cloxazolam in the morning. Fine, okay, I started feeling like a normal person again.

Wednesday, I had another appointment. She said because Autumn is usually a bad time for depressions, on top of this, she also prescribed Effexor (75mg) and Topamax (50mg)  (as a mood stabilizer)

I'm sexually active and on the NuvaRing. The ring pamphlet lists Topamax as a drug interaction. I called my shrink in panic and at first I think she thought I was someone else, she said I'm on such a low dose it shouldn't interfere and I should take it, it would help with my weight loss
"What weight loss? It's me, remember, and I'm pretty thin"
"Ooooooh, right, you. Sorry, there. I prescribed it as a mood stabilizer. In any case, if you're that worried, just slap on a condom"

My Google-fu tells me that the topiramate would only start to affect the HBC in a dose >200mg. In any case, it would only break down the estrogen part faster in the liver, not the progesterone. Still, I wonder, if Murphy's Law won't come into action.
Has anyone had any experience with this?
