Art for recovery?

I have written a lot of poetry while depressed. It doesn't pull me out of it, but it makes it more bearable.

For a while, at the direction of my therapist, I was sketching a lot in bright colors. It seemed to help some.

I think creating when you're depressed is good therapy and sometimes it happens to me spontaneously! I just get very down and very "bored" or whatever this awful feeling is that consumes me and makes me pace these floors and talk to myself. Then I give myself a break from all the horrible thinking and re-focus my attention to something creative. Anything is better than just sitting and dwelling.
