Wife and I had a great weekend, we went to Frederick, and did a few yuppie things. On Saturday night after dinner we went to the Carroll creek promenade on the downtown, and had a wonderful walk with the dog. As we were walking we went into several dog friendly shops. This included a fly fishing shop, and a imported food shop, and a local pagan shop. It was great. They did a wonderful job on downtown, if only Salisbury would have the economic grit to revive a down town. So the imported food shop had a big sign saying “English food”, I went in and naturally they had all sorts of food from the UK. Among the various canned and bottled delicacies, they had MP sauce, made with fresh Ministers of Parliament, and they even had the ever popular oh so odd colored and great tasting (not to me) IRN BRU, if you fancy a culinary adventure I suggest you try it. I hear it’s a great hangover cure. Alas they did not have any Scottish food, oh no haggis or good beer.

The fly shop (Hunting Creek Outfitters) was a pretty up scale shop, Murray the owner was a friendly and knowable chap and recommended a fly rod and reel for a good trout/bass starter rod. He quoted me a price and I needed to sleep on it. So I went back Sunday and bought the rod -- a ORVIS Clearwater 4weight 2 piece rod and Clear water reel) $124. This rod has a 25 year guarantee against breakage; I hope I never have to use it. Alas it did not include any line or backing, that’s my next step. I will have to go talk to Mason at our Salisbury Fly shop and get hooked up with flys and line…another adventure!

Total tangent: Saturday the neighbors across the street had a yard sale and I found a Callaway war bird big bertha 1 wood golf club at a yard sale for $20 score!

We had hoped to get together with Gary and Tracy, but they called us from OC, and were in Frederick…damn, so instead I did a little work in the garage with Don. I made a few components for his wiring harness, put in a thermostat, and made a bracket for one side of the exhaust system and went on Moosehead run…mmm beer. Sunday we went out and visited with Debbie and Cor and Anne will have a great post on that!

All in all it was a great weekend!
